San Ramon soccer team director fired after arrest as rape suspect - East Bay Times

SAN RAMON — Police said they were asking for possible additional victims to step forward after a youth soccer club director was arrested on suspicion of rape and subsequently fired.

San Ramon police said Tuesday that Luke Enna, the now-former director of the San Ramon FC youth soccer club, had been arrested Oct. 30, just days after the alleged assault was reported to them.

The police statement said officers had responded to a report by an 18-year-old woman, who had been housesitting on Oct. 26 for Enna, her former coach. He returned home on the early morning of the 27th, and committed multiple sexual acts against the girl without her consent, investigators said.

Enna was arrested Oct. 30 on suspicion of rape of an intoxicated person after a warrant was issued. He was booked into Martinez county jail, but was not listed in custody Tuesday evening.

Police described Enna as a former coach and director of operations for nonprofit youth soccer team San Ramon FC, and a former assistant women’s soccer coach at San Ramon’s Dougherty Valley High School.

In a statement Tuesday, San Ramon FC said it learned of the charge Nov. 1 and had immediately placed Enna on administrative leave, prohibiting him from contact with players and presence at any facilities. The team has since terminated Enna’s employment.

“Our primary concern is the safety and security of our players and families, and we want to assure you that we continue to actively work with our attorneys to complete a (thorough) investigation in parallel with the San Ramon Police Department,” the statement read in part.

“At this time, we do not have any evidence to suggest that any inappropriate actions have taken place between Mr. Enna and any under-age players in our (club).”

In May, the club had named Enna its grassroots development director, citing his six-year coaching history as well as his director of operations and tournament director responsibilities.

Police said an investigation into the case continues, and anyone with information about the incident or other suspicious activity involving Enna should call San Ramon police at 925-973-2779.
