A roundup of the Orange County boys soccer highlights on Friday:
Fullerton boys soccer coach George Shumaker reached a milestone Friday in a win over Freeway League rival Buena Park 3-0 at Fullerton High.
The victory was the 300th in the career for the longtime Fullerton coach.
Today’s 3-0 win over BPHS was Coach Shumaker’s 300th win in his career leading the Tribe! After 27 years, still going strong! Thank you Coach! @Principal_Rubio @CIFSS @FullertonASB @fjuhsd_scambray @ocvarsity @CoachPosthuma @FUHSATHLETIC #IFL #wearefullerton pic.twitter.com/jHWVcUbXf3

“This is my 27th year and consistency has been a key to our success as a program,” Shumaker said. “It’s a milestone victory, which means I’ve been around a long time and it wouldn’t be possible without the effort of my players and coaches, like Santiago Alvarez, who has been with me for 25 years.”
Shumaker declared Friday to be “the best day ever” and reflected on his impact while leading the soccer program at Fullerton.
“The neat thing is seeing your former players grow into men, become good citizens of the community and start coaching their kids. That’s the best part for me,” Shumaker said.
Joseph Espinoza had two goals for the Indians (11-5-1) and Adrian Garcia also scored.
Fullerton’s goalkeepers, Patrick Bulubenchi (three saves) and Michael Fernandez (two saves), combined to keep the Coyotes off the scoreboard.
