The Marina girls soccer team added another highlight to its breakthrough season on Saturday by advancing to the CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinals.

The Vikings (10-8-3) scored two second-half goals to defeat Brea Olinda 2-1 in the second round at Brea Olinda High.

Marina junior McKenna Pua scored the equalizer with about 18 minutes left, and a few minutes later Haley Boren delivered the go-ahead goal on a penalty kick.

The Vikings won the Wave League title this season, their first league title since 1995, and their victory over Royal in the first round of the playoffs was their first postseason triumph since 2009.

Marina will be home for the quarterfinals on Wednesday against Capistrano Valley (9-5-6), which defeated No. 2 seed Flintridge Sacred Heart 1-0 on Saturday.

In other girls soccer second-round games Saturday:

In Division 1: 

Edison 0, Santa Margarita 0; Edison advances on penalty kicks, 5-3): The Chargers (13-5-4) made all five of their penalty kicks to defeat the Eagles (14-3-2) after the teams went scoreless during regulation and two overtime periods.

Edison seniors Alexa Palombo, Nikki Marino, Morgan Roberts, Nicole Field and junior Jackie Peterson made the penalty kicks in the shootout.

The Chargers, trying to win the program’s first CIF-SS title since 2002, advance to play at Long Beach Poly on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

Villa Park 3, Pacifica 2 (2OT): The visiting Spartans (18-4-1) scored the winning goal in sudden-death overtime to beat the Mariners (17-1-2).

Villa Park will be home against Santiago of Corona in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Santiago defeated Corona del Mar 4-0 on Saturday.

In Division 2:

Yorba Linda 2, Rancho Cucamonga 0: Stefanie Ball and Lauren Farer each scored a goal in the first half as the Mustangs defeated the visiting Cougars (11-9-5).

Yorba Linda will be home for the quarterfinals on Wednesday against La Mirada, which beat South Hills 3-2 in overtime Saturday.

In baseball:

Jonathon Long pitched a no-hitter for Orange in a walk-off, 1-0 victory over Savanna. Long, who has signed with Long Beach State, struck out six and walked one. He was also 3 for 5 at the plate with two triples.
