Prep Soccer Report for Friday, Feb. 21
Christ Episcopal is making history in girls soccer.
The Wildcats went to Houma and knocked off top-seeded Houma Christian 2-1 in overtime at South Terrebonne in the Division IV semifinals.
The game was tied 0-0 at halftime and 1-1 at the end of regulation.
In sudden death, Eleanor Quinlan scored the winning goal for Christ Episcopal.
The Wildcats (16-4) advance to the championship game in Hammond to face the winner of Friday’s game pitting No. 3 Episcopal at No. 2 Newman. That contest is at Lupin Field at 3:30 p.m. The Warriors ended their season 21-3-1.
In girls semifinal action Friday, No. 1 Northshore hosts No. 4 Dominican at 4 p.m. The two teams played to a 2-2 tie on Dec. 4.
No. 3 Mandeville entertains No. 7 Central Lafourche. The Trojans upset No. 2 seed Mount Carmel Academy to advance. The Skippers whipped Central Lafourche 4-0 on Dec. 11.
In Division II, No. 6 Ben Franklin travels to Monroe to face No. 2 Neville at 5:30 p.m.
In Division III, No. 2 Archbishop Hannan hosts No. 3 University High at 3:30 p.m. The Cubs downed the Hawks 1-0 on Jan. 6.
In Division IV, No. 2 Newman entertains No. 3 Episcopal at Lupin Field at 3:30 p.m. The Greenies whipped the Knights on Nov. 25.
In boys semifinal action, No. 1 St. Paul’s looks to remain unbeaten at home at Hunter Stadium against No. 4 Dutchtown. The Wolves handled the Griffins 4-1 at Hunter Stadium to open the season on Nov. 19.
In Division III, No. 3 Lusher Charter plays at No. 2 University High at 6 p.m.
