Posting totals of 30 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists, Luka Doncic became the Dallas Mavericks’ franchise leader in triple-doubles with 22 for his career on Wednesday night, in the victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
He becomes the franchise record holder having only played in 122 games, whereas the previous record holder, Jason Kidd, took nearly 500 games to accomplish this feat.
Doncic took a while to notch his first NBA triple-double, until a January 2019 game against the Bucks. But in the last 78 games, he has posted 22 total triple doubles, which is roughly one in every four contests.
Per Elias Sports, Doncic also becomes the third player in NBA history to post a 30 point, 15 rebound (plus), 10 assist triple double before his 22nd birthday. The other two players are Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.
The Mavericks’ guard is playing like a fringe MVP candidate this season, averaging 28.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 8.8 assists while leading Dallas to 38 wins so far this season. The former Rookie of the Year has also been selected as NBA Player of the Month and as an All-Star starter in his sophomore campaign.
Not bad for a kid who just turned 21.
