Welcome to Pittsburgh Soccer Now‘s WPIAL boys soccer scoreboard for Thursday, September 26, 2019.

We’ve reached the fourth Thursday of the boys soccer season with some teams claiming important section wins. Defending 3A champs Franklin Regional finally broke through against Thomas Jefferson to remain unbeaten overall and in section, with a 5-0 win against the only team that tied them this season.

Neighboring section foes, Moon and West Allegheny saw a back-and-forth contest, as the Indians weren’t quite ready to concede 3A section 3 to the Tigers. Moon took a 1-0 halftime lead, only to have West Allegheny race back for two second half goals, including the game-winner by Fletcher Amos.

There are just four boys teams left with unbeaten overall records: Charleroi (2A), Shady Side Academy (2A), Franklin Regional (3A) and Plum (4A)

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets including Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the United States. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
