Warriors rookie forward Eric Paschall impressed in his first few games in a Warriors uniform, but the first quarter of Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers felt like his real breakout moment. The 23-year-old — who'd averaged 13.8 points on 61.1% shooting in his first six games — went off for 17 points in the opening quarter as the Warriors raced out to a 34-32 lead.
One notable fan of Paschall's performance: Steph Curry, who was watching from home on his couch.
"This guy @epaschall is on another level right now I love it," Curry tweeted. "Birthday vibes!!!! #dubnation"
Curry wasn't the only one to notice Paschall's superlative performance, which happened to fall on his 23rd birthday. Warriors fans and observers across social media were ecstatic with the rookie's offensive showing, sharing a number of reactions ranging from reasonable to... optimistic.
"Shall we start the Eric Paschall ROY conversation?," wrote The Athletic's Marcus Thompson, presumably with his tongue planted in his cheek.
"Paschall an All Star?," wrote an enthusiastic Warriors fan.
"so the warriors drafted the best player ever?," wrote @bobbyflaiben. "interesting."
Paschall kept playing well into the second half, eventually finishing with 34 points and 13 rebounds and leading the Warriors to an improbable 127-118 victory over the Blazers.
