Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer team put four players, more than ever before, on the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer All-Region Team, when the teams were announced Monday by the United Soccer Coaches.
Senior forward Maddie Bennett, freshman defender Megan Day and senior midfielder Atlanta Primus all claimed All-West Region First Team honors, while junior defender Delaney Dombek Lindahl was a third-team honoree.
Primus, the 2019 Big West Midfielder of the Year, was also a first-team honoree in 2018. She scored or assisted in 17 of 21 matches this season. Her streak of six straight matches from Sept. 13 to Oct. 10 with a point (either a goal or assist) is tied for the second longest in school history. She tied the school record for most assists in a single season at 13, and with 24 career assists recorded the most assists in school history. She also tallied 25 goals in her career, equaling a 74-point total, the fourth-best mark in program history.
Bennett, a 2019 All-Big West First Team honoree and the Sept. 9 Big West Offensive Player of the Week and Sept. 30 honoree, was tied with Primus for tops on the team with 12 goals including match-winning goals against Houston, Kansas State, UC Davis and Long Beach State this season. She finished the year ranked third in the Big West in points per game at 1.55.
Day, the 2019 Big West Freshman of the Year, was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 14 as she helped the Titans to two road wins. Day and her teammates allowed just one goal in those two matches and she scored the match-winning goal at UC Riverside. She has scored two match winners for the Titans, including in the Big West Tournament Final against CSUN.
Lindahl was named a 2019 All-Big West Second Team member for her work on a stout Titans defense as she led the team in total minutes played.
With Lindahl and Day anchoring the defense, the Titans recorded 11 shutouts for the season (one shy of the single season school record) and allowed just four goals in eight Big West Conference matches.
The Titans posted an overall record of 14-3-4 (5-0-3 Big West) to become the first team in the Big West Conference to win the championship after finishing in last place the year before. The squad also posted a 16-match unbeaten streak, the longest in program history, and went on to win both the Big West regular season and tournament titles.
Perez named CSUF Student-Athlete of the Month
Women’s basketball redshirt junior Raina Perez has been named Cal State Fullerton Student-Athlete of the Month for November presented by the Clementine Hotel Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim/Convention Center. Perez averaged 21.0 points per game for the month, while playing 36.9 minutes per game.

Senior guard Brandon Kamga scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Titans.
Santa Clara (8-1 overall) opened up the game on a 16-0 run and didn’t look back. The Titans (3-5 overall) went the first 10 minutes of the game without a field goal and shot just 35 percent (19-55) for the game from the field. Fullerton went just 4-16 from beyond the 3-point arc, but did well at the free-throw line (13-16/81%).
