At Watsonville 9, Monterey 1: Junior Jeal Leal had two goals and two assists to lead the Wildcatz to a rout Friday night.
Freddy Rocha-Fernandez scored twice and Jeremiah Lopez had one goal and one assist. Oscar Herrera, Alexis Valenzuela, Juan Contreras and Brian Gonzalez also scored for the Wildcatz.
At Santa Cruz 2, San Lorenzo Valley 2: Evan Wolcott scored in the 24th and 49th minutes for the Cardinals in their SCCAL tie Friday night.
Judah Maxwell had an assist on one of Santa Cruz’s goals. Goalie Elvin Zamora made two saves for the Cardinals (0-6-2, 0-0-2).
Soquel 2, at Scotts Valley 2: The SCCAL foes played to a draw Friday.
At Marina 5, St. Francis 1: The winless Sharks suffered endured another nonleague loss Friday.
Michael Barrera scored twice for the Mariners.
Girls basketball
Aptos 56, at Harbor 13: Gabby Giuffre made four 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 16 points in the Mariners’ SCCAL rout Friday.
Senior center Natalia Ackerman had 12 points, six steals and five rebounds.
At Santa Cruz 66, SLV 21: Bella Stephens scored 18 points and the Cardinals rolled to the win in SCCAL play Friday.
Sophomore Abby Lahey had six points and six rebounds for SLV. Senior Abbie Monroy contributed with four points, five rebounds, and three steals for the Cougars. Freshman Amelia Sizemore had five points.
SLV (3-9, 0-2) hosts Scotts Valley on Tuesday.
Girls wrestling
Kelly Kusumoto Classic: Alexandra Cortez of Scotts Valley took second place at 111 pounds at the Kelly Kusumoto Classic at Prospect High on Friday.
Soledad senior Veronica Garcia earned a 9-7 sudden victory over the Falcons’ freshman in the final.
Harbor freshman Amy Gray (126 pounds) took third place in her weight division.
Men’s basketball
Cabrillo 69, at San Jose City 49: The Seahawks posted another Coast Conference South Division win Friday.
Women’s basketball
At San Jose City 61, Cabrillo 57: Kenedi Walters had 19 points and seven rebounds in the Seahawks’ narrow loss to their Coast Conference South Division foe Friday.
Cabrillo outrebounded the Jaguars 58-33 but shot 27.3% from the field (21 of 77). San Jose shot 35.1 from the field (20 of 57) and made 16 of 21 free-throw attempts. The Seahawks were 7 of 11 from the charity line.
Michaela Thornton had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Seahawks. Savanah Quintana-Martin had 11 points and nine assists. Ananiah Chavez had 18 rebounds for Cabrillo and Abbi Saxton had 15.
Girls soccer
St. Francis 3, at Oakwood 0: Arianna Fernandez, Devlyn Gomez and Claire Croghan scored for the Sharks in their nonleague win Friday in Morgan Hill.
Men’s volleyball
At UC Santa Cruz 3, Cal Lutheran 2: Rowdy Lennon had 18 kills and eight digs to lead the Banana Slugs to a 27-25, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 17-15 win to open the Slug Slam at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Friday.
Sam Wittert had 60 assists for UCSC (2-1). Ian Pizzuti had 16 kills and six digs and Aaron Fox had 14 kills and 15 digs.
UCSC 3, Marymount (Virginia) 0: Zachary Thompson had 11 kills in the Banana Slugs’ 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 sweep in their second match of the Slug Slam at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Friday.
Aaron Fox had eight kills and 11 digs for UCSC (3-1) and Sam Wittert had 35 assists and six digs.
